Weather, weather forecast and when to go
Canada has seven different climatic zones. Country consists from Arctic, Subarctic, East Coast, Humid Continental, Dry continental, Mountain and Marine West Coast climatic zone. Every zone has its own specifications. Weather conditions of each from the zones depend on many factors such as water areas, altitude, and latitude.
Weather forecast for Ottawa
All of southern Canada has temperate climate what means it has four seasons. Winter touch all areas, however Pacific Canada is saved by warm winds which promote a mild, rainy climate all year-round.
As the contrast, Atlantic Canada has cool, humid summers and short, cool winters due to the prevailing west to east winds moving across Central Canada. Summer in Southern Ontario has warm and humid character. Winters are short and cold winters. Weather conditions are influenced by the Great Lakes. Generally temperatures in winter fall below freezing point throughout most of Canada. However the south-western coast has a relatively mild climate.
Along the Arctic Circle, temperatures fall below freezing for seven months a year. The mountainous interior of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory support glaciers.
The mid-latitude Prairies have continental extremes: cold winters and hot, dry summers. Western and south-eastern Canada experience high rainfall, but the Prairies are dry with average annual precipitation raging from 250 mm to 500 mm.
The high-latitude Arctic areas endure intensive dry and frigid conditions. The largest zone is the Subarctic, which knows short, cool summers and long, cold winters, and low precipitation.
Travel to Canada is possible all year round. Most of the tourists arrive in summer when temperatures are pleasant. Summer weather varies by region. The comfortable warm weather lasts from late May till early September in southern regions. In the northern regions, summer starts as late as mid-June and ends suddenly, often with the first snowfall in early September. Summer months in the southern provinces often experience high levels of humidity and temperatures can reach 30°C. In most areas, from March to May and September to October are the main tourist seasons. These seasons have often surprisingly pleasant weather. Fall, which finds forests cloaked in a spectacular mantle of color, is a great time to visit.
