Weather and when to go
The climate in Switzerland is moderate through the year. Strongly affected by the Mediterranean and the mountainous landscape. The mild climate is also reflected in plentiful rainfall and in the winter with snow.
Winters can be severe to tourists from warmer countries. In altitudes around 600 meters the average temperature in winter is around minus 1 degree and in summer around 17 degrees Celsius, while rainfall amounts to about 1125 mm.
Switzerland has much to offer tourists all year round. Mountain ranges and beautiful sceneries can be admired in the summer and also in winter. Somewhat unfavorable conditions can be expected in the spring and autumn when the warm wind blows. They are causing rapid melting of snow in some areas and then subsequently flooding. Pure snow, clean air and the panorama are fascinating many tourists. In perfect weather you can admire mountains Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, and lakes surrounding the city of Zurich, Zug and Geneva.
