Weather and when to go to Montenegro
Climate of Montenegro, called also The pearl of the Mediterranean, situated in the south of the Adriatic has an inland mild continental character. The Montenegrin coast has a Mediterranean climate, much like the coastal regions of the nearby lying countries and is characterized by the long, hot and dry summer and short, mild and rainy winter.
In winter, an average temperature is about 9°C. Summer in Montenegro has a typical extraordinary length of the sunshine (2500 hours a year), a high number of the sunny days and a low cloud amount. The temperatures in the summer months may reach even 38 °C. It is because of the mountain chain which for the most parts climb shortly next to the coast and it is providing perfect protection against the unfavourable influences for weather on the coast. Due to this natural wall, climate affects sea temperatures, ranging from 10-12°C in winter to 25-28°C in summer. During the winter the average temperature at Montenegro coast is mostly between 8-14 ºC and during the summer between 25-32ºC.
The best period to visit Montenegro are the months between May and September.
Not only seaside gives beautiful time and eye-catching resorts as Budva, perfect for relax. Also inland can provide it´s treasures. Clean countryside with typical scenery or Durmitor Mountains can be the right place for hiking or winter activities. Durmitor is paradise for mountaineers and nature lovers.
