Weather, weather forecast and when to go
The climate in Estonia is continental, characteristic by mild summers and fairly severe winters. The weather is often fresh and humid because of the Baltic Sea.
Average temperatures range from 21°C in summer (July is the hottest month) to minus 8°C in winter. Occasionally the temperature may rise up to 30°C in summer, or sink below minus 23°C in winter.
The best time to visit Estonia is in the late spring (from May to June) and summer (June to early September). July and August are the warmest but often also wettest months. Rainfall is distributed throughout the year with the heaviest rainfall between June and November.
Its northern latitude means long summer daylight hours (the longest summer day stretches to unbelievable 19 hours), and dark winters when daylight sometimes lasts only six hours. Heavy snowfalls are common in the winter months. If you like skiing then best time for coming is January - February.
Estonians have joke about their weather: “..there are 10 month bad skiing weather and 2 month summer..”
