Weather and when to go

The climate in Austria is continental. The Eastern part of the country fall into the Pannonian climate zone. Mountains have typical Alpine weather and lower temperatures.
Temperatures in Austria are typical for Central Europe. Cold winters (January temperature drops to minus 2°C but night temperatures usually go down to minus 13°C) and hot and sunny summers (going up even to 35°C during August). Vienna has an average annual temperature of about 9 degrees Celsius and rainfall 647 mm. In July the average temperature rises to 19 degrees Celsius. The highest average temperatures occur in Austria in July and August, usually 25 degrees Celsius. The coldest is January and December, which is the most suitable for winter activities in Alpine environment.

Austria offers perfect skiing conditions and well done built tourism infrastructure pleasant to tourists using services of restaurants and hotels. You can enjoy skiing on the ice-bergs perfectly covered by snow blanket, night skiing ability and wellness with spa.

The best time  for travelling in Austria depends on what you want to do, really. Skiing is best from between Christmas and New Year′s Eve. But it is also time at which many Austrians join the tourists on the slopes, as well as from late January to late March. This is the main season, when prices and ski traffic are higher.

The warm summer months range from May to September with the summer peak in July and August. Traveling in this country in other months as April and October is connected with cold and rainy weather. Usually the best time for sightseeing and outdoors things (walikng, hiking, climbing, national parks, sports) would be the months May and September, when routes are not exhausted, prices are lower than during the main season and weather is already or still pleasant.
