Climatic conditions are mainly influenced by the mountains of Himalaya and by the Indian Ocean. The temperature reaches high degrees most of the year with differences from region to region. Average temperatures are relatively high not only in summer but also in the winter. The coolest season lasts usually from December to February. This period has fresh mornings and evenings and mostly shiny days. In January the average temperature in New Delhi and Calcutta is from about 14°C to 20°C. The really hot season, when it is dry, dusty and unpleasant, is between March and June. Summers are hot and produce long-term average temperature reaches 30 to 32°C. Daily highs are normally higher than the 40°C. Monsoon rains fall in most parts of India in summer anywhere between June and early October. Most affected by monsoon rains is north of the country.

Ganga River

  Ganga river is a sacred river. The river rises in an ice cave in the western Himalayas. It is a largest river (lenght 2,510 km) in the Indian subcontinent. The Ganges is locally called the river of supreme Lord Rama, then Ganga Maata or Mother Ganges. There are several holiest cities on the banks of the Ganga river. The main are: Varanasi, Haridwar. Varanasi is situated between two rivers Varuna and Asi.
Hindus believe that life is incomplete without bathing in the Ganga at least once in their lifetime. Many important Hindu festivals and religious congregations are celebrated on the banks of the river Ganga. We can mention Kumbh Mela, the largest religious event on Earth for Hindu peoples. Millions Hindus visit this event at the Hindu Holy city Prayaga.

  Taj Mahal - Tomb, built by the emperor of Mughal empire Shah Jahan. It was built as a memorial to his beloved wife Mumatz Mahal (1594-1630). Taj Mahal was built by craftsmen and workers. It took 22 years to build. The construction begun in 1631 and was completed in 1653. Taj Mahal is one of the world's most marvellous buildings.

  Lotus Temple called also Bahai Temple - is located near Nehru Place. We suggest to visit this temple in the evening as it is lit up as a wonderful lotus flower.

  Jama Masjid - one of the biggest mosques in India. Jama Masjid is located in Old Delhi near the Red Fort.

  Humayun's Tomb - it looks like Taj Mahal. The tomb was built in 16th century as a tomb for the second Mughal emperor, Humayun.
